The history of Vogelsang:
-1935-1945: Nazi party training centre
-1945-1950: British period (military camp)
-1950-2005: Belgian military camp (the site is renamed Camp Vogelsang Kamp)
-Since 2006: site open to the public: nature area, hiking trails, the buildings house among others a permanent exhibition in the Nazi documentation centre which depicts how ordinary men and women were conditioned by the Nazis to hate Jews and other inferior races.

The book concerns the Belgian period.

Introduction
However, a prerequisite is that one properly knows and interprets the history of Vogelsang. The egative aspects: so that they will never be forgotten and never be repeated. The positive aspects: so that our belief in a better world and future worth living will remain alive, always and everywhere. And, in addition to the future, the fact that these are our children, our youth! They should know and never forget!
