Full title :Crazy Flying Machines
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
From 30 September to 30 November 2010, the artist Jean Leclercqz presented his Crazy Flying Machines in the main hall of the Air and Space section: a dozen spectacular large-scale canvases measuring 24 m², dozens of art prints on aluminium with astonishing assemblies of crazy flying machines.
A book with more than 150 crazy flying machines accompanied the exhibition.
The artist's compositions will surely surprise us. As soon as the initial shock has somewhat ebbed away, unavoidable considerations arise: "What? Can these contraptions fly? Surely even the most efficient propellers, wings or blades cannot possibly keep these objects in the air! Or can they?" Doubt quickly floats in, as the spectator is confronted with a symbiosis, a unity, a poem. The observer is dazzled -betwitched even- and immediately starts wondering "After all, why not?".
Jean Leclercqz turns his viewer into a present day Icarius, the viewer who starts dreaming of the impossible.
