Full title : D-Day American Soldier
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Through their involvement and the historiography since the end of the conflict, the GI's and the American paratrooper are key figures in the operations of June 1944 in Normandy. The first participated in the landings on the beaches of Utah and Omaha, then was an important element in the exploitation of the Allied breakthrough until the closure of the Falaise pocket.
Soldier of a resolutely modern army, he presents a vision totally opposed to that of the other belligerents, with very important logistics, an extreme rationalization of his equipment and his impedimenta, but also of his way of fighting.
The American paratrooper, for his part, made history with the action of the 82nd Airborne and 101st Airborne Divisions a few hours before the first GIs set foot on the Normandy beaches. These elite soldiers, with specific equipment, will however face numerous challenges linked to the uncertainty surrounding their mission and various parameters that are difficult to predict. (this is another booklet)
Two booklets present in detail the characteristics of these two types of soldiers, from the contents of the pack to the combat on June 6, 1944.
