Belgium received 223 M24 CHAFFEE tanks as US military aid. The first ones were integrated into the units in November 1950. The CHAFFEEs were replaced from 1958 onwards by the M41 WALKER BULLDOG, but they continued their career in reserve units at least until 1968 .

The M24 Chaffee was mainly used by the US Army in the reconnaissance units during World War II. With its two 148 HP Cadillac engines, it was fast enough to pull away from enemy contact in time. However, should a fight break out, he could defend himself effectively with his 7.5 cm cannon.
