The Panzerhaubitze 2000 (Armoured Howitzer Model 2000), abbreviated to PzH 2000, is a self-propelled gun manufactured by Krauss-Maffei-Wegmann. It is in service in 2020 with the Bundeswehr and the armies of Croatia, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, Qatar, Ukraine2, Hungary and Lithuania.
Weaponry
A 7.62 mm MG3 machine gun and a 52-calibre cannon (tube length: 8 m, including muzzle brake) firing 155 mm shells at a maximum range of 56 km with a rate of fire of nine to ten rounds in one minute, including the first three rounds in ten seconds, or 20 rounds in 2.5 minutes.
The floor under the turret contains an automatic loading system in the form of a star-shaped carousel with a capacity of 48 shells. Twelve more are stored vertically between the rotating turret floor and the engine compartment wall. The carousel can be replenished with ammunition by two soldiers in twelve minutes. The 288 modular charges are shaped and loaded manually by the outfitters. They are stored in three armoured compartments at the back of the turret, where the roof is covered with blast panels. Since October 2018, it has been qualified to fire the GPS5-guided M982 Excalibur shell.
An RTNL-80 sighting periscope is used for aiming and identifying targets.
