Leonardo da Vinci was fascinated by escapement mechanisms that measure time. He studied a number of them. Based on his work, this model uses the laws of motion and a ‘flying’ escapement pendulum to keep accurate time. The weight of the pendulum acts as a power source for the clock.
This Italeri model reproduces a working version of this ‘Wonderful Machine’.
